Having trained as a teacher in Nottingham twenty years ago, I almost immediately abandoned the classroom for the newsroom, working as a journalist in the UK and abroad.
I have been a general news reporter, business correspondent and a health journalist, as well as an editor of papers in the south of Britain, Scotland and in Nottingham.
While working as an editor for a media group in the Caribbean I rediscovered my love for teaching and since I returned to the UK I have taught general English and IELTS as well as English for business and science and medical English.
I volunteer for the Red Cross and Nottingham and Notts Refugee Forum, where I have been teaching ESOL classes.
In between teaching and volunteering I try to play as much tennis as possible.
