This course helps students to improve their English language skills in the core areas of speaking, listening, reading and writing. The emphasis is on improving the students’ fluency and building confidence when speaking in English. We cater for all language levels, from beginner (A1) to proficient (C2) learners. Courses start every week and students are given a placement test before or on their first session to ensure they join the most appropriate group for their level.
Students can combine their General English lessons with exam preparation (IELTS, PET, FCE, CAE or CPE), Business English, Academic English and/or one-to-one tuition. Progress in learning English is referenced to the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR) and monitored by continuous assessment and regular tests.
Textbook (to be purchased when joining the course) and supplementary material. Textbooks cost around £30.
The minimum level requirement to join this course is A1 (Beginner) in the mornings, A2 (Elementary) in the afternoons and B1 (Intermediate) in the evenings. Students can choose how often they would like to attend the course: 2 hours - 17 hours/week (depending on their language levels). If you are interested in attending afternoon or evening classes at the language levels not mentioned in the current course descriptions (e.g. wishing to attend an evening class at Elementary level), please contact us with your requirements.
All those students who would like to join our General English Courses are required to do a placement test. The online placement test includes Use of English and it takes 1 hour and 20 minutes. Our pen-and-paper test includes Listening and Use of English and takes 1 hour to complete. Both tests are combined with a speaking assessment. You do not need to prepare for the test since its aim is to paint a clear and realistic picture of your strengths and weaknesses.
We offer 10% discount for the booking and full payment of 10 weeks or more. For the booking and payment of 20 weeks or more, we offer 15% (does not apply to One-to-One tuition or bookings made via agents).
Mornings, afternoons and evenings.
Please note that whilst our morning and afternoon classes include a break, there are no breaks in the evening ones.
